AUNTY GAIL MANDERSON
I am a Wiradjuri Elder and Master Weaver, living in Wagga Wagga NSW. I have been going into schools for over 13 years teaching Wiradjuri Culture through song, language, games, stories, weaving and cooking. I have completed my Graduate Certificate in Wiradjuri Heritage, Culture & Language and use this to pass on language to the younger generations.
I create woven baskets, mats, dillybags, jewellery, string bags, Aboriginal dolls & animals, nets and scoops. I am passionate about passing on knowledge and love to try new ways to weave or different designs. I also like printmaking and have created teaching resources with the children that I work with in the local Primary schools. I have a collection of work in the Sydney Museum and have also sold baskets to The Museum Victoria, collectors in Seattle, New York and Milan.
