MELANIE EVANS

My love of art started when I was young and later I went to University, which took me 10 years to complete a degree in between having two children and working. I have had the privilege of working and creating with communities in Ngoongah Country (WA), Wiradjuri Country (NSW) and Gapuwiyak (NT) and I acknowledge and thank those communities for allowing me to expand and share knowledge. I have done over 25 murals, whether they are for underpasses and large-scale or small pieces that are very intimate and healing. Passing on my art skills and my love of Country and the language, culture and heritage of the local mob, wherever I have lived has been my drive and passion. I have lectured at Universities, worked with Primary and Secondary Schools, Playgroups, Pre-schools, community groups, women’s groups, youth groups and taught in TAFE NSW for people of ages and at all stages. I work in the mediums of printmaking, textiles, weaving, mixed media, sculpture, drawing, painting and curating exhibitions.
